Lichfield Cathedral is constructed mainly from sandstone which gives the building a distinctive red-brown colour, especially the ornately carved West Front:

Below is a shot of the magnificent West Front of Lichfield Cathedral in Staffordshire:
Lichfield is unique in that it is the only Medieval Cathedral in England with three spires. The central spire is 77mm tall and the two western spires a mere 58m. Dedicated to St Chad and St Mary, there has been a Cathedral on this site since 700 AD.
