New Life
Despite the snow over the weekend, there is still evidence of new Spring life struggling to break through:

A few more shots from this weekends snow and ice:
I don’t know what it is about photographing ice and icicles, but I find that auto-focus doesn’t always behave that well – I assume it has something to do with the translucency of the subject. Ideally I’d have had the camera locked-off on a tripod and manually focused using live-view. Unfortunately the location of the icicles in these shots didn’t allow for that, for instance shots 4 to 6 were hanging down from the guttering at the top of the house and involved me leaning out of an upstairs window to get them.

A few more shots from our walk around Storeton Woods last weekend:
Apologies for the title “Ice Holly”…..I couldn’t resist the obvious play on words….;0.

We went for a walk around Storeton Woods earlier today, to take some shots of the wintry conditions here on the Wirral.
I thought it was a perfect opportunity to have another go at the “vertical panning” technique I first posted about here.
I’m really quite pleased with the way these have turned-out. I think the muted colours and ghostly “blur” add to the stark wintry feel.
