Our trip to India included a couple of nights in Ranthambhore National Park in the east of Rajasthan. Unfortunately we didn’t see Tigers on any of our three jeep safaris, but we did see the following:

We’ve only been to the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) Reserve at Burton Mere a couple of times, but as it’s pretty local to us (and since we became members the last time we visited a few weeks ago) I think we shall be visiting many more times in the future. Its situated on the Cheshire/Wirral border on the estuary to the River Dee and is a magnet for a surprisingly wide variety of flora and fauna.
The images below have been posted on this site before, but as they are all from the same location I thought it was appropriate to share them again in one gallery.

To round off my series of posts from the Somerford Park Horse Trials, below are a few shots depicting some of the spectators:

I love the expression on the riders face in the first image below…..concentration and determination through gritted teeth:
By the time I took this shot the rain was starting to fall, hence the reason why I’ve gone with a dark; de-saturated, contrasty treatment with the post processing:

Horses flying through the air never fails to impress:

Is it me or are these two riders looking straight at the camera?

A couple of shots simply depicting competitors galloping along the course………there is usually quite a bit of ground to cover between the obstacles at a cross-country horse trials and the whole course can easily cover a few miles:
