Museum of the Jewellery Quarter

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham is based around the perfectly preserved Smith & Pepper workshop that ceased trading in 1981 after nearly 80 years of manufacturing endeavour:

      Hats off to your Grandmother, because when we did the tour it was made pretty clear to us that although it was good/skilled work it was also hard graft, paid by the item produced and fairly dangerous with hazardous chemicals used in the electo-plating process and pieces of machinery that could give you a serious injury. Plus of course they would be breathing in some nasty substances.
