Balmoral

Arguably one of the most famous buildings in the UK, Balmoral (and it’s 50,000 acre Estate in the Scottish Highlands) has been the private residence of the British Royal Family ever since it was purchased by Queen Victoria in 1848.

Smashing photograph Mark. Must take quite a bit of heating. I wouldn’t fancy the bills but then, those that live there really don’t need to worry do they. 🙂

Incredible! What a “house”. At least you wouldn’t feel intruded upon with houseguests lol.

That’s a marvellous photo of Balmoral, Mark.
I never realised it was open to the public when I visited the area back in 1978. I well remember the little church nearby where the Royal Family worship though.

It’s only open to the public for a few months a year and you can only walk round the estate and visit the ballroom. The rest of the house isn’t open.
