Completed in 1826, this was the first bridge to cross the Menai Straits and link Anglesey to the Welsh mainland:

Beautiful bridge and terrific landscape image, Mark.
Brings back good memories 🙂 My Nain (Welsh for gran) lived in Holyhead so we often crossed the Menai when visiting as kids.
Thanks Sarah, yes it’s a lovely part of the world….glad it bought back good memories.
I want to get back up there sometime and show Simon around. I wonder how much it’s changed? My dad always loved Broad Beach at Rhosneigr but my Nain and I loved Treaddur Bay. I haven’t been back since her funeral in the millennium.
Well I’m sure that Anglesey would love to see you again 😊
I always feel the Menai Straits sounds like it should be in some far away land the location of which you’re not quite sure of.. 🙂 Having visited Angelsey last year for the first time and driven over this bridge, I can really appreciate the photograph Mark!
Well, to be fair, most of the Welsh language makes you feel a bit like that 😊
