Somerford Park Horse Trials 6

A couple of shots simply depicting competitors galloping along the course………there is usually quite a bit of ground to cover between the obstacles at a cross-country horse trials and the whole course can easily cover a few miles:

Hi Mark, Does a family member of yours ride? My niece competes all over the place. My brother and his wife spend many a weekend driving around in this huge horsebox following Harriet as she competes in various events. I’ve not seen her compete myself recently but imaging it would present some interesting photo opportunities as you are demonstrating here so well. Excellent stuff.

Thanks Adrian…..the daughter of a friend of ours rides and I have a colleague at work who competes at quite a high level. Also the wife and I used to have horse riding lessons a few years back…..until Liz had a problem with her neck/shoulder and so had to stop. So I think it’s fair to say that I have an interest in the sport. They are great events to go and photograph, especially if you have a family member competing……so I’d definitely tag along one weekend and give it a go.

Thanks Em….they are great fun to go and watch and photograph and it never ceases to amaze me how close you can get to the action.

I wish……no I just turn up and take some shots. There are Marshals next to each fence/obstacle and they ensure you don’t do anything stupid, but you can still get very close considering.
