Rowing On The Ouse

During our visit to York we met up with friends Phil & Philippa Press and their two teenage boys Edward and Alex. The whole Press family are members of York City Rowing Club and whilst we were there they had to prepare for the “York Small Boats Head” match being held the following day – an annual event held on a 3000 metre stretch of the River Ouse which flows through the centre of York.

So, rather than just lie in bed nursing a hangover, what better way to shake off the excesses of the night before than to head off down to the river to watch the preparations and take some shots of the action. It was also the perfect opportunity to try out my new lens – recently purchased for my birthday – the Canon EF 70-200mm F4 L IS USM…..;0).

Oh yes, nearly forgot, I really should mention that Phil, Philippa, Edward and Alex all won their respective races the following day…..so well done guys…..it was a very successful weekend all round!
